Workers in the Student Stores, often dressed in Carolina blue, usually greet people with a smile and an open attitude to provide help. Though most appear to be students, some workers are also adults. Around twenty to thirty workers stay on all three floors of the Student Stores at the same time. On the first floor, workers provide IT support, on the second, they sell Carolina merchandise, and on the third, they sell and refund class materials.
My hypothesis is that workers of the Student Stores will always greet students pleasantly and offer services openly. This will be tested by observing students asking for help in the Student Stores at the service desks on all three floors of the building. The number of times students were not received candidly, impatiently, or sordidly will be noted. If less than 85 percent of the observed students who seek the services of a worker are not received well, then the hypothesis would be nullified.
A vast number of UNC students, including myself, faculty, and staff every day, so many people have come into contact with Student Store workers, and observations would be easy to carry out. In addition, numerous people may find these observations useful when wanting services in Carolina. These employees work at the store that sells authentic Carolina gear; thus, they reflect the college’s services to outside and insiders to the community. Since they are in constant visibility, their “societal” norms and values, reflective of how they would like UNC’s services to be perceived, would be interesting to observe and note.

This is nicely organized and very clear. The hypothesis is solid and the reasons of interest and study are cleary stated. You balance the person and scientific side very well. I can't think of anything that you might need to fix. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI think you could explain why you think the workers at the Student Stores will always greet students pleasantly. Also, what brings about such behavior in the employees?
